I am a self-proclaimed spoiled person. :)
Today I am most grateful for the special ladies in my life that contribute to my well-being and sanity. Sandy Hanson and Tammie Harrington. Sandy does my nails, and it's a mini-therapy session when I see her. She taught me how to make the BEST pickles I have ever eaten. She is the best listener ever and HILARIOUS. I've loved getting to know her! Tammie cleans my house** and does a FANTASTIC job! She cleaned my house for over two years before I even met her. Talk about trust!
I've tried going without nails...I lasted 2 months. I've had them on since 1997 (except a short time in 2001 when I burnt my hand and had to take them off for physical therapy) and it feels more natural than my own nail. And, I haven't cleaned my bathroom in 9 years. Don't think I'm going to start now.
It is such a joy (and I think, necessity) to do something for yourself that is special. The nails are for me. The house cleaning is for both of us.
See? Spoiled. And grateful.
**Side story: When we lived in Idaho, Trav's best friend started a house keeping business. He used our house to train his employees so for a while we got cleaning for free. And once you have your house cleaned by someone else, you just can't go back.
