I usually have a title for my blog post in my mind before I even sit down to type it out. Not today. And I'm not sure I'll be able to explain this well.
I work at AT&T. My day consists of conference calls...we are transitioning to Microsoft Teams - that's super fun!...and we have people from all over the globe that attend these virtual meetings. We were pretty spread out before the pandemic, but I'm 100% virtual now. Work at home has been a blast for me. I enjoy it immensely. Not all can say the same...I'm not dealing with home schooled kiddos (or kiddos in general, HAHA)...I'm not dealing with an annoying spouse (mine is a gem!)...I have great wi-fi.
Then today. A normal call begins. "Hi"s and "How are ya"s are passed around. Then one gentleman says, "I'm in Tel Aviv and I'm not sure if you are aware of what's going on here, but if you hear a siren, I'll have to leave this meeting and take my family to a shelter". One gal says, "Of course, oh my gosh, for sure!" and the host just starts the call ... as if nothing happened.
I was rattled.
I googled Tel Aviv news and found out that there are several rockets and bombs going off. One article says, "Palestinian militants say they fired 130 missiles at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv after an Israeli air strike felled a tower block in the Gaza strip". Oof.
And this guy was still working...taking calls online.
But probably so fearful.
I don't live in fear.
How unfair is that?!?!
It bothered me that we didn't spend more time acknowledging the HORRIBLE situation. It bothers me that some people have to live like that.
Praying.
