Someone you can't wait to see.
To my kindergarten through mid-twenties, she's Mandi Mitchell.
To my social media self, she's Kissy Suzuki.
To me now, she's Mandilyn Zehna (well, maybe she'll always be Kissy!).
I have only spoken to her on the phone a few times. I have emailed with her a few times. When I was on social media, we participated in each other's pages. Now, I just properly stalk her using Travis's social media.
Let me tell you about this phenom. She's a wife. Mother of two (they were called the littles for a while, but now they are young adults). She owns a beauty salon. Her husband is a master tattoo artist. She is an amazing daughter and granddaughter and sister and aunt and friend.
And they have built TWO, count them, TWO houses by hand, and with cash. They have a farm (Foxfire Farm) that has pigs, chickens, goats, cats and who knows what other critters.
She is a bibliophile, loves to travel more than I do (and does it on a budget while carrying a cast iron pan wherever they go!), and is obsessed with roses planted at the other property they own for her husband's tattoo shop.
It has been on my bucket list to go to Foxfire Farm and have a grilled cheese. Apparently they are epic. This year as I'm turning 50, I decided I wanted a tattoo. And started making plans to go visit them this summer. I would NEVER go anywhere else for a tattoo except Sailor Jim's in Logan, Utah. I found what I wanted ("Chara" in Travis's handwriting - it means "joy" in Greek). Someone gave me the good advice to sharpie marker where I think I would want it. I want it on one of my arms so I can see it (and maybe it would be a good conversation starter). I tried everywhere. I don't like it. Then when we decided I would stay home from Idaho when Travis left for his trip to Montana guiding, it didn't make sense to make a separate trip this year. So, next year. I can't wait.
