Destin, Florida - Take 3

A spontaneous trip to Panama City. Since it was "too cold" for the beach. Hahahaha

It's only about an hour but with our "ooh, let's see what is over there" mentality, it took us a while. We had lunch at the Sandbar Seafood & Deli. It was delicious seafood. Here is my review from Yelp.com:

"The best crab cake I've ever had!!  I ordered fried shrimp and now I'm ruined.  It was fresh, not frozen and living in Montana, I'll never enjoy frozen, lame shrimp again.  LOL

They also have this homemade hot sauce that is so delicious. I bought two bottles to take home!

My friend doesn't love seafood so she had a chicken caesar salad wrap and it was yummy!

So worth the stop.  And make sure to get a hush puppy!"

While researching what was in Panama City and Panama City Beach, we came across Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. With a 4D movie experience. We asked what time the next showing of the 4D movie was and they replied, "Whenever you want!" and we were the only ones in the theater. The attendant directed us to the best sets in the theater. With contacts in (I learned from seeing Polar Express in 4D in San Antonio that sunglasses are probably not the best eye wear...normal glasses would have been terrible also) and our seatbelts fastened, we were ready. Yes, I said seatbelts. It was the most crazy-assed thing I have ever done. I screamed as if I was on a HUGE roller coaster and I swear my ears felt like they needed to pop. I had to close my eyes on a few occasions. The mind is a powerful thing. I.was.sitting.in.a.chair!!!!!

We toured the museum...saw an 8' 11" man (or the statue of, anyway) and a mold of a Chinese woman's bound foot. I've read about it, but my imagination did not come up with that. What a crazy tradition that made me appreciate my flip flop covered, flat feets.

We can go back to the Wonder Works side anytime this week if we want. It's an upside down house with interactive stuff like a roller coaster simulator that spins upside down. May have to do that!

I have tried to find a lighthouse down here with no such luck. I thought I found one, the Panama City Lighthouse. Has a Facebook page, a great website and it had a PO Box for an address. Hint #1 that it wasn't real...there was no address to be found. But, as it turns out, one of our stops along the "scenic route" ... which is a must do on vacations ... was a beautiful marina where the lighthouse may be built. We stopped at the gift shop and asked about the mystery lighthouse and found out that people are trying to rebuild the marina and the lighthouse would be included. End search. LOL

I went to my first Ron Jon's store. Very cool. And CJ had a first, too. PF Changs (yippee) which happens to be one mile ish from our house! Had a great dinner and ended the evening playing Liverpool Rummy.

Good night all!

p.s. We both bought power ball lottery tickets. If we win, we're splitting it half way and buying a house on the beach. Don't worry, we'll be responsible and share the house.
