Friday Favorites

Favorite Website:  www.united.com  I’ve spent a lot of time on this website.  Between Travis & I going back and forth to see each other, and work trips, I am truly a frequent flier!

Favorite Memory:  Travis got the truck he’s been wanting for almost 10 years.  He got a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax Diesel.  YAY!

Favorite Facebook:   Mageen Caines (a.k.a. Meg).  We met years ago working at DIRECTV in Boise and her page is so witty and philosophical.  I love the stories about her very outgoing, SMART little girl and her precious newborn baby boy.  My favorite this week:  “One part of me thinks today was just a bust in terms of productivity.  The other part of me wants the first part of me to settle down and employ a little expectation management.  LOL”  Sometimes she just says what I think in the BEST way possible.  Thanks, Meg.  I forever look forward to your thoughts, words, humor and life philosophies.

Favorite Day:  Today.  Travis just got into Denver for 9 days for his work and I’m going to love every minute of it!  I also had a fun lunch with my friend, Stephanie and her daughter, Ada.  THEN, I went shopping at MONT BLANC with my friend Mary, and nearly had heart failure from the wonderful pens.  I was very strong and only came out with a refill.  They have all sorts of colors now, not just blue and black.  We had so much FUN!

Favorite Bite:  I made lentil soup for the first time and it turned out amazing!

Favorite Refreshment:  Sassy Water.  This is part of a fad diet – I got the exact recipe from online, but I’ve altered it.  For a large pitcher of water (I use a gallon pitcher from Pampered Chef – it has the built in plunger for easy removal):
1 - 8-9” cucumber, sliced thin
2 - lemons, sliced thin
12 - mint leaves, no stems
1 Tbsp of minced ginger (I use the minced ginger in the tube)
I add 2 limes, sliced thin

Let sit overnight before using.  I let the mix sit for 2 days if I don’t drink it first.  If I still have some after 2 days, I’ll remove the fruit and veggies and it will last another day or so.  Not usually, though :^)

Favorite Book:  Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson  “Audrey Hepburn is an icon like no other, yet the image many of us have of Audrey—dainty, immaculate—is anything but true to life. Here, for the first time, Sam Wasson presents the woman behind the little black dress that rocked the nation in 1961. The first complete account of the making of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. reveals little-known facts about the cinema classic: Truman Capote desperately wanted Marilyn Monroe for the leading role; director Blake Edwards filmed multiple endings; Hepburn herself felt very conflicted about balancing the roles of mother and movie star. With a colorful cast of characters including Truman Capote, Edith Head, Givenchy, "Moon River" composer Henry Mancini, and, of course, Hepburn herself, Wasson immerses us in the America of the late fifties before Woodstock and birth control, when a not-so-virginal girl by the name of Holly Golightly raised eyebrows across the country, changing fashion, film, and sex for good. Indeed, cultural touchstones like Sex and the City owe a debt of gratitude to Breakfast at Tiffany's.” From Barnes and Noble Overview

Favorite Movie:  Hysteria.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1435513/  This movie was so entertaining.  The topic was absurd.  In the late 1880s most women were diagnosed with “hysteria” an all encompassing catch all for any “mental or emotional” ailment.  The treatment was truly hysterical.  I loved every minute of it.

Honorable Mention Favorite Movie:  Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/ Reading the book made me realize that it was a biography of the movie – a movie I had never seen.  I know, *gasp*!!!  It was really good.

Favorite TV Show:  My So Called Life.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108872/ I’m watching it on Hulu + and it’s just as good as it was in the 90s!  Claire Danes is one of my favorite actresses.

Favorite Song: This was the week of the albums.  I got the “Rock of Ages” soundtrack, “+” by Ed Sheeran, “Crave” by for KING & COUNTRY and Wow Hits 2012.  They are albums where EVERY song is really good and I’ve loved listening to them all week.

Favorite Quote:  “There is no way to happiness.  Happiness is the way.”  -Thich Nhat Hanhs

Favorite News:  My favorite vitamins can be made into a customized pack for AM & PM.  Right now I have 5 bottles.  Soon I will have easy packets and this will be so awesome for traveling.  Also, the summer Olympics start in 5 weeks.  I can’t wait!!!

Favorite Indulgence:  1 hour massage at Massage Envy with Kora.  I’ve never been to the same place twice, I’m trying to find that perfect massage.  I finally have (and have an appt schedule with her again).  It was heaven.

Favorite Thing To Do:  I have many.  I rarely do anything I don’t want to do.  How blessed am I?  And spoiled, but we've already established that.  This week my most favorite was talking on the phone one evening to my best friend, Scott, and starting the next day talking to him.  He lives in Hawaii and the time difference makes talking often a little challenging, so we usually cross midnight my time when we talk.  I can't think of a better way to end one day and start the next one!
