A picture of my favorite books
Here are my favorites that aren't in my eReader. They aren't in an particular order except my two favorites first. The rest of the order just looked cool in the photo. My Grandma Martin's old books are in the background.
(Left to Right):
- The Bible. This one is my favorite and from my best friend, Scott.
- Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. My favorite book of all time.
- Kane & Abel by Jeffrey Archer. My favorite book of all time from high school to 2010 when I read Shantaram. It's the only book I've read twice.
- The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. The writing is magical. And some chapters are from the perspective of the dog, Almondine.
- The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Life changing. Even my dogs have a love language.
- Promise Me by Richard Paul Evans. He's one of my favorite authors and this is my favorite of his.
- The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. Dreamy.
- The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I did not want this book to end. Ever.
- The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I still think about the characters. And even the terrible movie version didn't ruin it for me.
- Swann's Way by Marcel Proust. A book that I haven't finished. It's one of those books where you read a sentence and savor it for a year. "...and the path he is taking will be engraved in his memory by the excitement induced the strange surroundings, ..." Yep. That's how I feel every time I travel.
- Law of Attraction by Michael J. Losier. This book gave a name to what I have known since I was 15 years old. And a language to explain it. I don't call it "La of Attraction" for nothing! :)
- The Year of Living Biblically by A. J. Jacobs. Laugh out loud funny. And anyone who writes down every rule in the Bible and follows as many as he can for a year is alright in my book. Get it? LOL
“The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.” - Mark Twain
“Do not read, as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious, for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live.” - Gustave Flaubert
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis
“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.” - William Styron
