Today is just an average day, and anything but. We had a swing of over 50 degrees in one afternoon (high of 46 and now it's -4 degrees). It's supposed to be record lows the next couple of days (as low as -20 here, -40 in Montana). I am so grateful for a good home with a heater and cozy blankets. I'm grateful I don't have anywhere to be the next few days (until Christmas Eve at church).
After I got out of the shower, I realized my body knew the difference between a water drop and a hair on my skin. I can't figure out how...but God created our bodies with such detail that something as small as a hair is felt and registered as something as different as water.
The new Avatar is out. It has been 13 years since the last one, and I'd say it was just as good if not better (since it was more than 30 minutes longer - I don't mind long movies). We went and saw it yesterday. Movie Tavern by our house has $5 Tuesdays. We got home at 830pm! Three more Avatar movies are scheduled between now and 2028.
I met up with Jen LaPorte for dinner. I met her at church years ago and we just really hit it off. We have a lot in common at work and in our personalities. Found out today that she's 29. She found out that I'm 47. Both of us were surprised! She is so mature and the way we talk about our careers, you'd think she was late 30s at least.
Isn't she beautiful? She's been testing for her CPA for almost as long as I've known her and something I've prayed for constantly. She is so determined - she never gives up. I am so proud of her. She has a new boyfriend named Nick. He's a man of God and I pray for them as their relationship grows.
Every major holiday this year will have been spent with Shealy's. I invited myself to Thanksgiving after I realized I wasn't traveling. We have been spending Christmas Eve at their house since we all serve together at church. This year we're going to dinner at Yanni's after church. Then Matt is making a prime rib for New Year's Eve. We're taking our homemade brownies, ice cream and homemade fudge sauce. Johnson's are coming also, our last hurrah before they move to Hawaii. Derek is being stationed there for three years. We will miss them immensely.
Travis and I spent a good 10 minutes with him trying to say the Christmas Story red rider BB gun quote: official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time. I had issues putting the video in, so am using a link. It's 2:30 minutes of hilarious laughter.
That's all, in the mind of La. XOXO
