Notre Dame, Sainte-Chapelle, Conciergerie

After the shock of seeing the Eiffel Tower wore off, we continued our historic walking tour! And walk did we ever! 5 miles! It was awesome.

Notre Dame was super sad.  You can only see the outside and it’s mired by the construction. You can still appreciate the grandeur and history.

Stacey Pyeatt insisted on a cafe that serves the best ice cream.  I’m not 100% sure we found it, but the place we did find was delicious!

Famous bookstore.  The line to get in was nuts. The outside was entertaining enough.

Then we went to Sainte-Chapelle.

On the inside are the most incredible stained glass windows that tell the story of the Bible.  For them to accomplish this in the 1240s is beyond comprehension. And to realize it was the same story from the Bible that I read today.  *Mind blown*

I recognized one picture.  The story of the paralyzed man that was let down through the roof to be healed by Jesus.  Mark 2:3-12 or Luke 5:17-27

This is the exact photo that is in our tour book: Rick Steves Paris, Sept 2022

The level of detail in the carving is CRAZY.

Then off to the Conciergerie. I was looking forward to this- me and prisons!

But it was just an empty building. It had a tablet that you could see what it would have looked like in the 1300s or 1700s, but it was hard to imagine. The coolest part was the outside and knowing we were just mere feet from the Supreme Court still active today.

Near Marie Antoinette’s cell.

Matt loves the history.  I do, for about 2 minutes. Maria and I found a bench to wait for Matt and this was our view. I practiced my editing skills and took out ALL of the people that were around it.  Looks pretty good!

See? Super beautiful on the outside.
