Headed Home

Second only to my honeymoon, this has been the best week of my life.  I saw everything I’ve dreamed of seeing and so much more!

I was curious how far we walked this week.

106,000 steps. I looked up how many miles that is and for me, its 36 miles.

Worth every step!  I’m physically exhausted but emotionally elated.

M&M talked about how many miles a day they did in Disney World with the kids.  Almost double what we did per day - and the kids kept up!  We decided that the kids would have hated this trip.  They would have liked the ride up to the top of the Eiffel Tower, but that’s about it.  Maria said, “they wouldn’t enjoy walking around looking at old furniture”!  HAHA

In the airport, we were talking about ice. I got used to lukewarm water, but was looking forward to having ice again. Matt said he read not to get ice on an airplane, that it was not from a great source. I told him I had some on the flight over here (and every flight in the US) and I was fine.  When we were getting ready to leave there were several attendants going up and down the aisles. I asked one of them kindly for a cup of ice. The guy sitting next to me said, “You know, that’s the pilot, right?”  Wait, what?  No.

Oh yes.  Not only did I ask for ice, which apparently isn’t sanitary, but I asked the pilot.  He came back with ice and was sorry it took so long, he didn’t know where it was. Oopsie.  I apologized and profusely thanked him.  He was so gracious.  He said he was here to serve and then spent five minutes explaining a feature of the place where the wings go up 14 feet upon take off to be aerodynamic and how to watch for it.  So I did.  It was pretty cool!

Matt asked if I think I missed anything, or if we should have done anything different. Of everything on my list (except the markets, which could be a disaster depending) we didn’t miss a thing.  I maybe wouldn’t have done Giverny and Montmarte on the same day, but I wouldn’t want to miss either so don’t regret it.  We fit a lot in this week, I don’t think I missed a thing!

While it might be the 2nd favorite week of my life, this was the greatest gift I have ever received. I don’t have the proper words to express my gratitude. I will figure out a way to pass it on.

Au revoir!  I saw the Eiffel Tower in this view, but now I can’t find it in the photo.

Here is the link for all of our photos.  Enjoy!

It was really hard to leave. I think I left a piece of my heart in Paris.
