Versailles

I can’t believe this is our last day!  We got up super early and took a train to Versailles.  Our Navigo pass (yay for the fair Photo Booth - they checked our cards on the train to make sure we had our picture and signature) worked for all of our public transportation and completely paid for itself.

When you walk up, you instantly see its grandeur. We met a lovely young lady in line (who asked us to take her picture in front of the palace) named Jen.  And she was from Dallas!  She toured with us until we had our private quarters tour.  We had tickets for the first timed entry and the palace was virtually empty. And the gold everywhere.  It was bonkers!!

I loved the Royal Chapel.

The Hall of Mirrors is a wonder.  My favorite pictures of us are here.

We saw the replica of the Coronation of Napoleon.  The difference being one of the ladies’ dresses is pink.

I loved the rooms that would have had their books.

And this one in green.

After we had been on our feet for 5 hours (they tell you ahead of time how massive it is!) we stopped for lunch.  The cafe is very famous and was adorable and look at this food art!

Then we went to the gardens.  We saw the fountain show* and then Matt wanted to go walk to the Trianon areas.  I wanted to not do that and found a cafe with outdoor seating.  It was glorious! I got a citrus popsicle (the only thing I recognized in French: citron).  I sat in the trees at Versailles.  I read (albeit an eReader, not an actual book) in the same gardens as French Royalty. It was incredible.

*M&M took great photos and videos of the fountain show at places that looked amazing.  They will be in the Google photos link that I’ll share at the end of our journey.

On the way out, we saw the carriage exhibit. We listened to the descriptions of each one and it was so cool.  There is a Versailles app where you can get audio of all of the displays.  The opulence!
To and from Versailles, we walked a bridge and I saw the Eiffel Tower for the last time.  This is my favorite photo.  I said that every day, and I’ll say it again when I go back and take MORE pictures. :)
