Things I Ponder

  • Other than voting records, how do I get FACTS about the candidates in the election?  I plan to watch the debates, and will look at their websites, but what else to believe...
  • What if we ate ONLY the nutrients our body needed.  And that's it.
  • Why I can remember what Travis wore on our first three dates (19+ years ago), but I can't keep track of what day of the week it is.
  • How songs get into iTunes?  Not that I have any, but I actually googled this.  There was information on THAT you needed digital music and what to do before hand to prepare, but not answers to how it physically happens.
  • And the more philosophical one:  What is Heaven like?  I have a few theories:
    • Each person gets their own "heaven" and what they love is there.  Their family and friends, their favorite EVERYTHING and it's just one big, glorious love/food/travel/reading/nap fest.  This is not jiving with my analytic self (because what if more than one of you want me in your "heaven"?) but it's an awesome concept.  Side note:  my Grandpa and Grandma Gummerson are square dancing, fishing, playing pinochle, and laughing loud up there as we speak.
    • Heaven is like a stadium concert.  All believers are going to the show (because we've been forgiven for our sins), but based on our level of sins is the seat we get to sit in.  People like Hitler would get one of the nose bleed seats (another side note:  I just learned where that phrase came from after a recent bloody nose incident with Travis.  My dad asked if it was because of the altitude and I said, "No, he's actually really low.  Could it be because he's a lot lower than normal?"  Dad said, "No, La.  That's why they call it the nose bleed section.  Cuz they're way up high."  Oh.  Duh.) and Mother Theresa gets the front seat and the VIP pass for the meet and greet.
    • It's just blackness.  With no knowledge, no time, it's just nothing.  Like being put under anesthesia (which, before and after is hands down THE worst feeling in the entire world - the nothing in between is just that....nothing.  So no complaints about that) where you have no concept of, well, anything.
    • That it's none of these and it will be so grand and amazing that our minds won't even care what happened here.  It will be a million times better than ALL of our best days combined.  I can't even comprehend how awesome that worshiping and praising Him for all eternity would be like.  I hope it's this one.
What do you ponder?

  1. Very interesting thoughts to ponder La. One thing I ponder is why some choose to do evil over good. Another one ... how does the ocean know when to stop coming in? Hmmmmm, I wonder. BTW, it is me Cathy. I forgot I had this account. I think I was going to start a blog on here but then forgot where I had started it. LOL. It is called "Senility."
